Turtle Bars

1 package German chocolate cake mix
1 package (12-14 oz.) caramels
1 (6 oz.) package chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts
3/4 cup margarine, melted
2/3 cup evaporated milk

Mix dry cake mix, melted margarine, nuts, and 1/3 cup of evaporated milk. Sprinkle half of the batter in a 13 x 9 greased pan. Bake 6 minutes at 350°. 
Melt caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in saucepan over low heat until completely melted. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked batter, then pour the caramel mixture on top. Crumble the remaining batter over the top and bake for 15 minutes more.
